The cardioprotective role of coenzyme Q10 and selenium
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. More than 17 million people die from it, more than from all types of cancer combined. Q10 plays an important role in protecting the cell membrane from oxidative stress and contributes to the formation of new mitochondria. Together with selenium, which is required for the reactivation of Q10, it can play a supportive role in the treatment of heart patients.

Periodontitis and oxidative stress
Periodontitis triggered by the bacterium Porphyromonas gingivalis can not only lead to tooth loss but can also have far-reaching consequences for the entire organism. The bacterium produces lipopolysaccharides that damage the mitochondria in the gums. As a result, these produce increased reactive oxygen species, which in turn cause damage to the cells. Taurine and ubiquinol/ubiquinone Q10, as the body's own antioxidant substances, can help the gums build up protection here.

Ubiquinol Q10 in Mitochondrial Medicine – More energy and vitality
Growing old while staying young is primarily a matter of energy. This energy is generated in the mitochondria, the “power plants” of our cells. Mitochondria are at the heart of Mitochondrial Medicine. Ubiquinol Q10 is a substance produced by the body and is indispensable for this energy production.

Caring for gums with Q10
Healthy gums require a strong immune system. It wards off harmful germs from the oral cavity before they can cause inflammation in the gums. The immune system requires energy and support from antioxidants for this. Q10 provides for energy production in our body and is at the same time a strong antioxidant.

Ubiquinone Q10: Preventing gum problems the natural way
Liquid ubiquinone Q10 was tested in more than 100 German dental practices in a controlled trial on test subjects with gum problems (gingivitis, periodontitis). The subjects cared for their gums daily after brushing their teeth using the liquid Q10.

Mitochondrial Medicine – Lack of energy as a cause of disease
Almost 95% of a cell's energy production takes place in the mitochondria. A key substance in this process is Q10 (ubiquinone/ol). In addition, other mitotropic substances such as thiamine (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), niacinamide (vitamin B3), magnesium, iron, sulfur, alpha-lipoic acid, and omega-3 fatty acids are involved in energy production. When energy production is insufficient, cell function is impaired.

What Mitochondrial Medicine can achieve – 25 years of research and application of Mitoceuticals®
Over 90 percent of cellular energy is generated in the mitochondria. Ubiquinone – coenzyme Q10 – is essential for this. How application-oriented therapy with coenzyme Q10 developed from basic research was presented at the 25th company anniversary of mse Pharmazeutika.

25 years of Mitochondrial Medicine – The mitochondrion myth demands a paradigm shift
With a ceremony and an academic celebration on August 31, 2017, the Bad Homburg-based company mse Pharmazeutika GmbH celebrated its 25th company anniversary. 120 guests from business and science as well as friends and acquaintances of the managing directors Uta and Dr. Franz Enzmann attended.

mse Pharmazeutika GmbH researches, develops, and produces Mitoceuticals®
Many physical ailments and diseases are associated with a deficiency of Q10 (ubiquinone/ol) and/or other micronutrients. This deficiency (BioEnergetic Deficit – BED) leads to mitochondrial dysfunction, which can, however, be compensated for by the targeted administration of mitotropic substances (Mitoceuticals®). Against this background, the recording of all mitotropic substances and their positive effects on the mitochondria is an ethical obligation.

mse Pharmazeutika celebrates 25th anniversary
It is thanks to Dr. Franz Enzmann’s commitment over many decades that the comparatively young medical discipline of Mitochondrial Medicine is today known beyond national borders and is irresistibly on the rise. Its beginnings date back to the 1960s, when post-doc Dr. Enzmann was able to gain his first formative experiences with the then almost unknown substance coenzyme Q10 at Stanford University (USA).

Strong nerves – clear head
B vitamins can have a positive effect on mood and concentration and strengthen the nerves and the immune system. A chronic deficiency is considered a risk factor for long-term damage or age-related diseases. According to estimates, every second person over 40 is likely to have too few B vitamins in their body’s cells. In addition to age, stress, alcohol consumption, and smoking as well as chronic inflammation or a vegetarian diet can have a detrimental effect on the body's vitamin B balance.
