Melatonin with delayed release for up to 5 hours

Melatonin is an endogenous messenger substance, primarily produced in the pineal gland, which plays an important role in regulating the sleep-wake cycle. Its production follows a distinct day-night rhythm and, under natural conditions, increases as it gets dark.

In Melatonin mse matrix®, the melatonin is embedded in a plant-based cellulose matrix. This special delivery form allows for a delayed and continuous release over a period of about five hours.

Melatonin is also related to the function of mitochondria and is classified as one of the so-called Mitoceuticals® within the MitoMed concept.

Properties:

  • Melatonin helps to reduce the time it takes to fall asleep; the beneficial effect is obtained by consuming 1 mg of melatonin shortly before bedtime
  • Melatonin helps to alleviate the subjective feeling of jet lag; the beneficial effect is obtained by consuming at least 0.5 mg shortly before bedtime on the first day of travel and for a few days after arrival at the destination
  • due to embedding in a cellulose matrix, melatonin is released over a period of approximately five hours

How does the delayed release of melatonin from Melatonin mse matrix® work?
The melatonin is bound to a cellulose matrix, which is only slowly digested in the intestine. This allows the melatonin to be released continuously over a period of five hours.
Can Melatonin mse matrix® be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Melatonin should not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as its safe use has not yet been sufficiently researched.
How is Melatonin mse matrix® dosed?
The recommended daily intake of one capsule (equivalent to 1 mg of melatonin) must not be exceeded. It should be taken 30 minutes before bedtime. The beneficial effect for alleviating the subjective feeling of jet lag is obtained with a minimum intake of 0.5 mg shortly before bedtime on the first day of travel and for a few days after arrival at the destination.
