Why is taurine important for my body?

Properties of taurine

Cell metabolism is mainly based on the functioning of the mitochondria, in which energy is obtained from our food. Taurine belongs to the mitotropic substances that occur in the mitochondria. These are also called Mitoceuticals®.

Taurine is:

  • an aminosulfonic acid that occurs naturally in our body
  • found especially in the eyes, brain, heart, muscles and blood
  • localized within the cells, especially in the mitochondria and in membranes

Possible causes of an increased taurine requirement or deficiency:

Lifestyle

  • vegetarian / vegan diet

There is no evidence that taurine has a stimulating effect. It is a substance - an amino sulfonic acid - that also occurs naturally in our body.

What is the capsule shell of TaurinoMit® made of?

The capsule shell of TaurinoMit® is of vegetable origin and consists of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC).

Where does taurine occur in our body?

Taurine is found in all cells, especially in the "power plants of our cells", the mitochondria. In addition, it is an important component of membranes, which are significantly involved in the electrolyte balance as well as in the exchange of substances between the cells. In particular, taurine is mainly found in the eye, brain, heart and muscles as well as in the blood.
