Food supplement with 200 µg selenium in the form of sodium selenite
SeleMit – the versatile one
Selenium supports the immune system and the thyroid gland, ensures normal hair and nails, protects cells from oxidative stress and is important for normal sperm formation.
An increased selenium requirement can arise, for example, with a vegetarian/vegan diet, oxidative stress, taking certain medicines or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Selenium is present here in the form of sodium selenite, which can be absorbed particularly quickly into the body. It should be consumed independently of vitamin C preparations or vitamin C-containing food or drinks.
This product is free of:
- Milk Protein
Why selenium is important for my body
Tasks of selenium
Cell metabolism is based, among other things, on the functioning of the mitochondria, in which energy is obtained from our food. Selenium belongs to the mitotropic substances that are important for the mitochondria and are therefore also called Mitoceuticals®.
Selenium contributes to:
- normal thyroid function
- normal function of the immune system
- protection of cells from oxidative stress
- Maintenance of normal hair and nails
- Normal spermatogenesis
Possible causes of increased selenium requirement or deficiency:
- selenium-deficient soils
- Vegetarian/vegan nutrition
- oxidative stress
- Pregnancy & breastfeeding
- Taking certain medicines*
In case of illness*
- Resorption disorders
- Myocardial infarction
- Renal insufficiency (dialysis)
* This refers to a possibly increased nutrient requirement and not to the alleviation, healing, or prevention of a disease.
SeleMit contains the trace element selenium in inorganic form as sodium selenite, which is absorbed more quickly by the body than biologically bound selenium. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for compensating an acute selenium deficiency. It should be noted, however, that absorption is only about 50% and that it should be taken independently of vitamin C preparations or vitamin C-containing foods and drinks.
SeleMit contains 200 µg selenium per capsule.
The daily intake of 1 capsule contains: 200 µg selenium (364 %*).

Frequently asked questions
Is selenium in the form of sodium selenite well absorbed by the body?
Sodium selenite is quickly absorbed by the body, but only to the extent of about 50 %. In contrast to biologically bound selenium, it is therefore particularly suitable for quickly compensating for a selenium deficiency. However, it should be taken independently of vitamin C preparations or vitamin C-containing food and drinks.
What is the difference to the product Selen mse?
In Selen mse, selenium is biologically bound in the microalgae Spirulina platensis and is particularly well absorbed and utilised by the body. The microalgae also contain other valuable ingredients such as chlorophyll, plant protein, minerals and trace elements and vitamins.
Is there anything to bear in mind when consuming SeleMit?
Yes, SeleMit should not be consumed at the same time as vitamin C-containing preparations or drinks or food.
